A Photo Editing Workshop for Absolute Beginners

Course description

The aim of this workshop is to develop knowledge, understanding and skills required to use an image editing software to do basic editing of digital images. This course, which is aimed at the absolute beginner in photo editing, will use the free-to-download software ‘GIMP’ which apart from being free of charge, is also very similar to other photo editing software like Photoshop. Students will be guided to download this software and learn how to transfer images from camera to computer, open them in GIMP and edit them using many ‘standard’ tools. The course will give a step-by-step guide on how to handle digital files, how to improve them, alter them or transform them and finally save them for digital or print output.
The workshop will be held on 2 Saturdays, the 14th and the 21st of March, 2020. There will be two sessions of 2 hours per Saturday, session one will start at 8.30am till 10.30am, and after half-an-hour coffee and break the second session will start at 11.00am and ends at 1.00pm on both Saturdays. This workshop is open to the general public and will be held at the Malta Photographic Society Club House in 137, Old Bakery Street, Valletta.
Students will be expected to get a lap-top computer with them to be able to follow better the lesson. Lessons will be given in English.
The fee for the whole course is of €55 for members of the Malta Photographic Society and €60 for non-members.
