THE MALTA PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY DISTINCTIONS

The Malta Photographic Society is authorised to bestow the following distinctions to its members in recognition of their achievements in the field of photography:

  • Associate of the Malta Photographic Society (AMPS).
  • Fellow of the Malta Photographic Society (FMPS).
  • Honorary Fellow of the Malta Photographic Society (Hon FMPS).

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

MALTA PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY DISTINCTIONS FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN PHOTOGRAPHY

The Malta Photographic Society as empowered by an Extraordinary General Meeting held on the 29th April, 1999 can bestow the following distinctions to the members for personal achievement in the field of photography:

Associate of the Malta Photographic Society (AMPS)

Fellow of the Malta Photographic Society (FMPS)

Honorary Fellow of the Malta Photographic Society (FMPS)

The Associateship and Fellowship of the Malta Photographic Society are awarded to members of the Malta Photographic Society for personal achievement on a points systems.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.1. Only fully paid members of the Malta Photographic Society are eligible to apply for an Associateship or a Fellowship distinction.

1.2. An administration fee of €30 and €50 respectively must accompany an application for an Associateship or a Fellowship distinction.

1.3. If a member in possession of a Society distinction resigns or is deprived of his/her membership in terms of clause 5 of the statute, the member’s Society distinction/s will be automatically withdrawn.

1.4. If a former member re-applies for membership of the Society and is accepted by the Executive Committee in terms of Clause 4 of the Statute, that member shall be eligible to any distinction held during his previous membership on application in writing to the Executive Committee.

1.5. The Competition/Exhibitions considered towards the gaining of the Society’s distinctions must be:

  1. organized by the Malta Photographic Society;
  2. held under the Patronage of the Malta Photographic Society;
  3. International Exhibitions/Competitions under the Patronage of at least one of the following, viz: FIAP, PSA, GNU (GLOBAL PHOTOGRAPHERS UNION)

The points awarded towards the gaining of the Society distinctions in each eligible competition/exhibition shall be:

  1. Major awards (Panels, Portfolio, Gold, Silver, Bronze or any medal or trophy) 5 points;
  2. Honourable Mention or Certificate of Merit …3 points;
  3. Acceptances (including mentoring competitions) … 1 point.

1.6. Applications for distinctions, accompanied by the appropriate fee shall be processed twice a year by the 30th November and the 31st May.

1.7. Members gaining a distinction shall receive a Certificate and a distinctive Malta Photographic Society lapel badge.

 

THE AMPS DISTINCTION

2.1. The Associateship of the Malta Photographic Society is achieved on gaining 250 points. Points are considered collectively in Monochrome Prints, Colour Prints, Monochrome DPI, and Colour DPI

 

THE FMPS DISTINCTION

3.1. The Fellowship of the Malta Photographic Society is achieved on gaining 400 points on any one medium of Monochrome Prints, Colour Prints, Monochrome DPI, and Colour DPI.

 

THE HON FMPS DISTINCTION

4.1. Honorary Fellowship of the Malta Photographic Society may be awarded with the approval of two thirds of the Executive Committee, to persons who have made a significant contribution to the Art of Photography and preferably to those who have been of service to the Malta Photographic Society. The number of persons bestowed with this distinction must never exceed ten and it shall not be necessary that the number be complete at any one time.
